Normandy Park, WA
A modern-transitional kitchen remodel that balances warmth and sophistication. Rich dark walnut cabinets pair with bright white quartz countertops and an arabesque tile backsplash in a neutral Moroccan pattern. The canopy hood over a Blue Star range top creates a professional cooking station, while a custom beverage center with bar sink and wine fridge adds entertaining functionality. A limestone chimney and black hardware tie the rustic and modern elements together.
This kitchen was designed from the ground up for entertaining. We removed walls to open the space significantly, creating a flowing layout between the kitchen, living area, and the new dedicated wet bar. The wrap-around seating at the island puts guests right in the middle of the action, and the pass-through window facing the deck — where the gas grill lives — makes it easy to hand burgers, condiments, and beverages straight out to guests without ever leaving the kitchen.
The wet bar and beverage center is a serious setup, not an afterthought. We ran all-new electrical and plumbing to support a bar sink, two under-counter refrigerators, and its own dedicated dishwasher — so cleanup after a party doesn't compete with the main kitchen. It functions as a self-contained entertaining station that keeps the drink-making and appetizer prep out of the cook's way.
The design leans into a mid-century aesthetic that feels right at home in this Normandy Park house. The rich walnut cabinetry and ledgerstone fireplace surround anchor the space with the kind of warm, natural materials that defined mid-century interiors — a style built around the idea that the kitchen and living spaces should be the center of social life, not hidden away behind closed doors. There's a bit of that 1950s cocktail party spirit here: a home designed around gathering, with every detail geared toward making guests feel welcome and the host feel effortless.
